Video: When Bjork Met Attenborough

Music, science and technology. The moment that I have been waiting for has arrived, and words cannot describe my feelings right now. Watching inspiring people like Bjork and David Attenborough discuss the science of sound has made my dream of a proper collaboration for this combination come true!

The beauty of nature is instilled in Bjork’s music in every sound, and every beat is manifested in visual reality. Music is so powerful, it can be witnessed in our brains, as different sides of it are lit when we listen to music, flesh morphing into the violent light movements of an equalizer board. What I love about Bjork is that she is scientific with her music, way ahead of her time, and once mixed in with that special intrinsic Icelandic relationship with nature, the results are quite extraordinary.  And all this excitement, what is the source of my very own interest in all of this?  There are many reasons but the oldest is a distant memory of when I was 9 years old, as I happen to complain to my father; “Why do people always sing about love, why don’t they sing about science and agriculture?”  Well, there you go!

Video: Renan Ozturk: Cinematographer + Director // Reel 2013

Amazing video on the thrill of adventure and the beauty of nature. Sometimes I think what makes life worth living is getting out there in nature, getting out of our comfort zone, breaking the routine and letting go. If no one ever experienced that then they are missing out big time. I recommend watching this video on a big screen. Enjoy!

Travel: Djibouti. 2012

Djibouti has so much potential to be a touristic place with its deserts, beaches and mountains. lake Assal, the lowest point in Africa, it is a must see when you are there.

Music: Bjork – Joga

Bjork is one of my favorite musicians. I see her as a visionary who is not afraid to adapt and change with nature. Her nature is Iceland, a country that has geological landscapes more than one hundred million years old, adding to its beauty and mystery. She worked with the most creative producers, instruments and artists. She is way ahead of her time. Human behavior puzzled her so most of her songs are a beautiful manifestation of human emotions driven by the environment around us mixed with art.  Joga, is one of her magical songs.

Travel: Nepal. 2007

Back in December 2007, I visited Nepal with some friends for some photography and adventure. We hiked through the suburbs of Kathmandu, traveled across the jungle of Chitwan district on an elephant and did some paragliding in Pokhara. I think the best way to capture this beautiful country is by walking between the mountain villages, talking to people and convincing them to pose for the camera. It was a challenge, but luckily i had some candy on me to share. People, adventure, food and nature are what i look forward to the most in every trip.
