This is an old debate but its a classic, I felt I have to have it on my blog at some point. Enjoy!
Video: When Bjork Met Attenborough
Music, science and technology. The moment that I have been waiting for has arrived, and words cannot describe my feelings right now. Watching inspiring people like Bjork and David Attenborough discuss the science of sound has made my dream of a proper collaboration for this combination come true!
The beauty of nature is instilled in Bjork’s music in every sound, and every beat is manifested in visual reality. Music is so powerful, it can be witnessed in our brains, as different sides of it are lit when we listen to music, flesh morphing into the violent light movements of an equalizer board. What I love about Bjork is that she is scientific with her music, way ahead of her time, and once mixed in with that special intrinsic Icelandic relationship with nature, the results are quite extraordinary. And all this excitement, what is the source of my very own interest in all of this? There are many reasons but the oldest is a distant memory of when I was 9 years old, as I happen to complain to my father; “Why do people always sing about love, why don’t they sing about science and agriculture?” Well, there you go!
Video: The Feynman Series – Honours
Receiving and giving honours, worship and the idolization of others. These are things that humans tend to be programmed to do, which is something I do not understand at all. Both for its action and resultant way it makes us feel, but as Feynman says, “Honours are unreal.” Well, I agree. Enjoy!
Video: Instruction Manual For Life
Please. Just think, be different, and most of all be fucking courageous in questioning everything. Life is too short to be ordinary. Enjoy!
Video: The Power of Outrospection – Empathy
I have been an advocate of empathy the moment my father once told me to look up the definition of the word for myself in the dictionary. Ever since, I have read about and researched the meaning of empathy, and set aside the encountered examples of its application and “practice.” I have become more compassionate in attempting to understand the people around me, and mostly those who are different than me in terms of ideology, ethnic background and age. This video explains the definition of empathy and the different ways to be empathetic, a key variable towards a better, more tolerant and less judgmental society. It really is the only way forward to avoid conflict and war. Must watch!
Video: Stress is The Number One Killer
New studies show that we are not victims of our genes and we can change. I posted here about this and now this video demonstrates what we see and perceive can effect our genes. “life has everything in it” and we can choose what filter or belief system that can effect our genes. Very informative. Enjoy!
Video: George Carlin – People are Boring
I love George Carlin. That’s all I can say really!!
Video: Epigenetics
Are we constantly evolving?
Epigenetic is the field of genetics that combines psychology and biology. It provides a solid ground on various topics, from shedding light on epidemic diseases to rationalizing the habits that we are experiencing now. We are prints of our DNA, but we are also effected by our environment where our genes have the ability to change.” Imagine, your grandmother was making dietary decisions that most probably effect you today.” Very fascinating information that tickles the brain. Enjoy!
Video: Tree of Life
Beautiful and simplistic illustration of life in 6 minutes by David Attenborough. This is a great video for all ages, especially for kids, I think they can understand life better than adults because of their wonderful imagination and pure minds. Enjoy!
Video: The Secret You – BBC Horizon
Human beings have been searching for the meaning of consciousness and what makes us who we are for centurie. Now with advancement in modern science, we may have the ability to answer some of these questions. In this documentary, scientists conduct a fascinating experiment in which they can show what the brain is thinking 6 seconds prior to the subject processing and making a decision. Very exciting. Enjoy!
